NY Voters for the Environment is mobilizing NY’s grassroots movement into a political force to elect environmental champions, get off fossil fuels, and advance clean energy.
New York has a rich history of environmental leadership, from early conservation in the 1800s, to the birth of the modern environmental movement in the 1960s and 1970s, to Love Canal and fighting toxic industries, to banning fracking and leading on climate change. But recently, New York has been backsliding on our leadership role.
We can change that.
New Yorkers overwhelmingly care about clean water, clean air, protecting the environment, and tackling the climate crisis. Together we can galvanize our collective power to make the environment a top priority once again.

New York Voters for the Environment is dedicated to making New York State an environmental leader, including protecting our water and air, stopping climate change, and advancing renewable energy. NYVE was started by a group of long-time environmental leaders in New York who want to see our movement become a political force to win elections and translate that power into achieving ambitious environmental policies.
Our Work
Winning ElecTions
NYVE is building a grassroots powerhouse to elect environmental champions. We are creating chapters across the state and training activists to educate and mobilize voters, including canvassing, phonebanking, and organizing our friends and neighbors.
We are also using digital and social media to inform New Yorkers and motivate them to vote, highlighting the environmental issues at stake.
In addition to winning critical state-level elections, NYVE is determined to elect environmental leaders in counties and other local governments across New York.
CITIZENS LOBBY
The oil and gas industry spends millions on lobbying OUR elected officials to do their bidding. Now it is time for We, The People, that New York’s pristine land and water are NOT for sale. NYVE will train thousands of everyday New Yorkers to become citizen lobbyist to protect our environment and our public health.
COUNTY CHAPTERS
NYVE is building chapters in counties across our state to organize our communities to protect the environment. We are uniting New Yorkers to protect the places that we love and to demand that our elected officials reject dangerous fracked gas pipelines, stop harmful AI data centers, and support renewable energy projects. We must to protect our water, air, and health, move off fossil fuels, and create a clean energy economy. The future of our state is at stake!
